Anglo-Continental

Description:
Anglo-Continental is an English language school that operates a residential program each summer on the Tufts campus. The program is an excellent opportunity for students interested in expanding their experience within the fields of English as a Second Language, Travel and Tourism, Park and Recreation Services, International Business, and Residential Life Management.

In the course of 7 weeks, Anglo-Continental receives international students aged 15 to 22 years of age from all over the world who come to improve their English skills and visit the Boston/New England area. Each summer Anglo-Continental employs residential staff to lead activities, provide administrative support and reside in the residential halls with the student population.

Anglo-Continental is looking for individuals with strong organizational and leadership skills who are interested in working with an international population. The Foundation's Summer Intern Program provides employment opportunities to New York City residents who are currently full-time undergraduate students, receiving significant financial aid for their education. Qualifications for all positions include a grade point average of 2.5 or better. For those who have related work experience, slightly lower averages will be considered. Positions are in departments throughout the Foundation, including Accounting, IT, Human Resources, Facilities and Investments and in our grantmaking units such as HIV/AIDS initiative, the Peace and Social Justice Program, Asset Building and Community Development Program and our Knowledge, Creativity and Freedom Program. Responsibilities for all positions include filing, photocopying, phone and general office clerical work. Assignments may also include special projects and/or research. In addition to performing the individual work assigned to them, students will attend weekly meetings with senior Foundation staff and participate in training and networking opportunities. All majors are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in students who would like to learn more about the work of not-for-profit organizations and foundations. Students must be available to work 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, from early June through August. The average pay rate is $16.00 per hour.

The Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is a 11 year-old 501(c)(3) non-profit that works closely with many universities, across academic disciplines, to facilitate undergrad and graduate students project work and research in Latin America, East Africa, and India with locally-based NGOs. These students support community initiatives while also implementing projects of their own design in collaboration with their organization and our field staff.

Description:
The French-American Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, member-based business organization that helps establish business relations between French and American companies. It also has internship opportunities available.

FACC offers internship and volunteering positions yearly on a three to six months basis. If you are a student in the U.S., interested in pursuing an international-oriented career with a European focus, you are especially invited to apply. Candidates must be fluent in English and French and have a student visa to apply.

The French Embassy organizes a job fair every year for International students looking for a job in Europe. Visit the Forum USA website for more information. Next year's forum will take place on April 5-7 at the Swisstel in Boston. It is a great opportunity to meet with French multinationals and make contacts. Description:
Initiatives of Change, formerly Moral Re-Armament, is an international movement concerned with race and community relations. Initiatives of Change's goals include reconciliation, justice and the healing of history. Initiatives of Change works toward these goals by means of various programs such as Hope in the Cities, a global initiative fostering honest conversations on race. Another program is the International communications Forum, which is devoted to media ethics and freedoms of expression and information.
There are multiple internship, volunteer, and job opportunities. Potential Responsibilities: assist with implementation of new website design; assist with editing/layout and possibly writing for national newsletter; assist PR follow-up to national community building campaign in June; assist with press releases and media relations; assist with development of global web-based image and resource sharing system; other responsibilities are possible depending on qualifications and interests.

Description:
The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) and the Environment and Agriculture Program seeks students interested in working on issues of sustainable agriculture and forestry. The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy promotes resilient family farms, rural communities and ecosystems around the world through research and education, science and technology, and advocacy. The Institute for International Law and Justice sponsors Summer Internships, Clerkships, a Postgraduate Fellowship Program, International Law Moot Court teams and Student Field Work, to provide students with the opportunity to gain education in theory and practice in various areas of international law, human rights and national public interest law outside of the United States. NYU Law's Public Interest Law Center (PILC), through the Public Interest Committee, continues to fund a large number of students each year to do work of their choosing at a public interest organization abroad.



INSTRUCT (Outside Boston)

Description:
INSTRUCT is an international program focused on environmental rehabilitation in two watersheds, Lago San Pablo in Ecuador and the Rio Texcoco in Mexico. They conduct integrated Ecosystem Management (IEM) and environmental remediation work to link social, political, economic, and cultural issues. The five-year project will involve the creation of working partnerships among communities, institutions, and universities. The goal of INSTRUCT is to enhance the capacity of institutions and communities in Ecuador and Mexico to promote environmental remediation and sustainable development through an Integrated Ecosystem Management approach.

Description:

Youth for Understanding International Exchange is a non-profit organization offering exchange programs in 40 countries to over 5,000 high school students every year. YFU programs include academic exchanges and Sport for Understanding, a sports-oriented homestay program for high school athletes wishing to compete against sports teams overseas.

DC interns/volunteers work in Marketing & Recruitment, Education & Volunteer Development, Public Affairs & Development, Information Systems, Finance, International Publications, Sport For Understanding, and Consumer Services. Interns in regional offices (approximately two to three per office) help select families for visiting non-American students, make presentations to local high schools, and conduct administrative tasks.
