The IR major offers preparation for a broad range of careers. While this clearly
holds advantages, you will be much better prepared to maximize these options if
you start career planning early at Tufts. To support you in this process, Tufts

Faculty Resources
Remember that your advisor and other members of the
IR
Core Faculty can provide insights and ideas about careers in international affairs.
This is another reason to seek out an advisor who shares your intellectual interests
within the field as early as you can in your Tufts career.
If an advisor knows you well -- and sees your achievements and direction over
time -- they are much better able to write a strong recommendation letter. (Remember
that your advisor and other members of faculty often have full advising loads, so
giving significant lead time when requesting appointments or recommendations is
critical.)
Other Tufts Program Resources
Other departments and programs on campus also have resources for career development
and internship programs.
