Naya McCartney

I'm originally from Woodbury, CT and attended Western New England University where I received a B.S. in Biology. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biology under Prof. Barry Trimmer at Tufts University. My research interests include molecular biology, physiology and neurobiology.

IGERT Research
Insect flight muscle is unique in how incredibly robust and resilient it is. My research seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms of muscular development in Manduca sexta with the intent of replicating the process in vitro. Through replicating and adapting these complex biological process we will be able to apply the concepts to designing biological actuators.
