Joel Dungan
Electrical and Computer Engineering

Bio
Joel is an M.S./Ph.D. student in the electrical engineering department at Tufts University. He received bachelor’s degrees in physics and electrical engineering from Colorado College and Columbia University, respectively. As an undergraduate, Joel participated in research projects in NIR spectroscopy for breast cancer imaging, low-cost fluorescence PCR, and portable flow cytometry systems. Prior to coming to Tufts, he worked as a software engineer at Fairchild Semiconductor in Portland, Maine.

IGERT Research
Joel is working on a joint project between Dr. Mike Levin’s and Dr. Valencia Koomson’s labs to develop platforms to study non-neural cellular learning. The goal of this work is to enable signal transfer between electrically excitable cells and extracellular electronics or sensors.
