Travel Information:
Public Transportation
For the Medford Campus:
Most places in Boston or Cambridge are accessible by the subway system (the MBTA),
or more commonly known as the "T." However, to get around the Medford and Somerville
area, buses are more useful. Click here
for a list of the places most students will want to access, and the buses/trains
necessary to reach them. The bus fare is $.90 and the T is usually $1.25 (sometimes
more depending on what line you travel).
There is also a shuttle service on the Medford campus, free of charge, which
runs continuously every day from two campus locations to Davis Square.
For the Boston Campus:
The Boston campus is located on Harrison Avenue and Washington Street in the Chinatown
section of the city. The most convenient way to get around Boston is by the MBTA
subway system, most commonly known at the "T". There are four different subway
lines that connect at different stations. Each line is designated by a color: red,
blue, green and orange.
The fare is usually $1.25 (sometimes more depending on what line you travel).
The T runs every day from 5:00am until 12:30am and a Night Owl Service is provided
on Friday and Saturday nights between 1:30am and 2:30am for a fare of $1.50 with
buses leaving Government Center Station every half hour and traveling to most subway
station stops, including Davis Square. For a complete listing of bus and T routes
and schedules, go to www.mbta.com.
Taxi cabs are an additional mode of traveling the city with services 24
hours. Taxis are generally more accessible in downtown Boston versus the Medford
area, thus it is sometimes recommended to call a company directly to gain service.
