Faculty and Scholars

Obtaining Visa Sponsorship

Tufts I-Center processes visa documents and advise Faculty and Scholars coming to Tufts for the purpose of teaching and researching in any of the campuses mentioned below. Visa categories for incoming faculty and scholars are determined by the I-Center in collaboration with the hiring Department. Incoming international faculty and scholars must follow the following steps to obtain an immigration form:

Step 1: Secure a teaching or research appointment at one of the following campuses at Tufts University:

  • School of Arts & Sciences
  • School of Engineering
  • Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine
  • Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy
  • Friedman School of Nutrition
  • Human Research Center on Aging (HNRCA)

Step 2: Complete the required internal forms as instructed by the hiring department.

Step 3: Apply for a visa after receiving the visa document from the I-Center. (Faculty and Scholars already in the U.S. and Canadian citizens are exempt from this step).

Step 4: Check-In Session: We host mandatory Scholar check-in and orientation sessions every Wednesday at 3:00pm at the International Center. You must attend within 10 days of your arrival in the US.
