If you wish to learn more about taking the TOEFL Exam, you may now obtain this information from the TOEFL website. You can find information about registration procedures, test dates and test centers. You will also be able to request registration information from this website.

Duration of Program
Typical duration of this program is 9 months, one academic year.

Full-Time Requirement
International students in F-1 status must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 3, one credit courses) each semester due to U.S. immigration regulations.

The Certificate and Post-Bac programs require between 4-5 courses to complete the program, thus the traditional method of completing this program is 2 courses per semester. However, international students MUST enroll in a minimum of 3 courses per semester in order to meet the full-time status requirement. There are no exceptions.

International students completing the program in the 9-month period should be prepared to complete and pay for up to two additional courses (one per semester) in order to meet the full-time requirement.

Practical Training
Pre-Completion Practical Training (PPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

  • International students currently enrolled in Certificate or Post Bac programs do not qualify for either PPT or CPT.

Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT)

  • Certificate Programs: International students who have completed a certificate program do qualify for OPT. However, certificate students in a STEM field do not qualify for the 24-month STEM extension.
    • It is to the discretion of USCIS whether or not your application to request Post-Completion OPT with an academic certificate is approved or denied.
    • Learn more about how to apply for Post-Completion OPT.
  • Post-Bac Programs: International students in post-bac programs do not qualify for OPT.
