Duration of Program
Typical duration of this program is 9 months, one academic year.
International students in F-1 status must be enrolled as a full-time
student (minimum 3, one credit courses) each semester due to U.S.
The Certificate and Post-Bac programs require between 4-5 courses to
complete the program, thus the traditional method of completing this
program is 2 courses per semester. However, international students
MUST enroll in a minimum of 3 courses per semester in order to meet
the full-time status requirement. There are no exceptions.
International students completing the program in the 9-month period
should be prepared to complete and pay for up to two additional
courses (one per semester) in order to meet the full-time
Pre-Completion Practical Training (PPT) and Curricular Practical
- International students currently enrolled in Certificate or Post Bac programs do not qualify for either PPT or CPT.
Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT)
- Certificate Programs: International students who have completed a
certificate program do qualify for OPT. However, certificate
students in a STEM field do not qualify for the 24-month STEM
- It is to the discretion of USCIS whether or not your application
to request Post-Completion OPT with an academic certificate is
approved or denied.
