Selva is a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development, working in the 4-H Study. She received a B.A. degree from Tel-Aviv University and a M.A degree from University of Chicago, both in Social Work with a clinical concentration, and a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Boston College. Selva has clinical experience with children, adolescents, and parents, in the civil and military settings. Her research focuses on how family dynamics and monetary resources affect the lives of children and parents. Particularly, her research focuses on fatherhood, and has a three-fold purpose: understanding how fathers parent and why, understanding how fathering affects fathers themselves, and understanding the role of fathers in children's and adolescents' development. Selva is interested in the policy applications of research, particularly for economically disadvantaged families.
