Ettya Fremont is a graduate student who has finally found her academic bailiwick at the Eliot Pearson Department of Child Studies and Human Development. Prior to joining IAYRD, she pursued a somewhat preternatural pedantic path. She graduated from Wichita State University in 2007 with a BA in Field Studies in Psychology, received an MPP from Brown University in 2010, and a completed a post-bac program at Bryn Mawr in 2011. Working with adolescents to craft school policy in Rhode Island, and observing the interplay of culture, school environment and peer relationships while teaching fourth grade in Shanghai, she developed an intense interest in empathy and resilience, particularly in youth’s conceptualization of their own development of these characteristics. Per chance, she is now working on the “Do the Right Thing” project, examining the amalgam of social and ecological factors that shape youth’s genesis of expressed moral and actions taken.
