Paul A. Chase is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development
in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University. He earned his
Ph.D. in Child Development from Tufts University in 2015. Paul's dissertation examined the role of
intentional self-regulation in academic success, and trajectories of academic development.
His research interests include factors that contribute to academic success, and program evaluation.
He was City Year’s Director of Program Evaluation from 2015-2016, and an external evaluator for Boy Scouts
of America from 2016-2017.
In June of 2017, Paul joined IARYD to manage a research partnership between IARYD and the
Comer Education Campus (CEC), a holistic college-prep middle school, high school,
and after-school campus in the South Side of Chicago, IL. (PI: Richard M. Lerner).
CEC has developed a college support system called UtmostU for their recent alumni currently
attending universities across the country. The aim of the IARYD-CEC project is to provide
research consultation, survey development, grant writing, and innovative data analyses
(including both variable-centered and person-centered data analysis) with the goal of informing
CEC programming and best practices for college alumni support.
