Mary H. Buckingham is a student in the M.A./Ph.D. program in the
Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University.
She holds a B.A. in Psychology (2012) from St. Joseph’s College in
New York. Mary currently works as a doctoral research assistant on
the Character and Merit Project (CAMP), within the Institute for
Applied Research in Youth Development. Mary’s research interests
include parental influences on the development of empathy.
Specifically, she is interested in the relative influence of the
quality of relationships with parents (e.g., nurturance, support)
vs. parental socialization of prosocial behaviors on empathy.
