Seva
Or selfless service, is an important aspect of Hinduism. Hindus believe that God is not a separate being, but rather that God dwells in all beings. Thus, serving the suffering is really another way to serve God. There are numerous ways to perform seva, and it is important to have the right attitude of compassion for others and selflessness. In this way, seva is also beneficial because it helps remove egoistic feelings and selfishness. Tufts HSC encourages everyone to participate in community service or volunteer their time and efforts to help our fellow brothers and sisters.

RELAY FOR LIFE
This year, the Tufts Hindu Students Council has decided to join the annual Relay for Life event at Tufts as part of our commitment to giving back to our community. In case you're not sure what Relay is, it's an on-campus Spring semester event that aims to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Almost everyone on this campus has been affected by cancer in one way or another, and this is an opportunity to give back and make a difference. Last year's Relay had over 800 participants and raised over $115,000 and we hope to do even better this year. As an overnight event, it will begin on Friday, April 13th, starting at 6pm and lasting until 6am the next morning.
The "idea" of Relay for Life is to have a team member walking the track at all times, to show how the fight against cancer is a nonstop battle. Although this is obviously a very emotional and serious event, Relay is sure to be a fun event. It's a great way to bond with your friends while raising money for an important cause. There is no better time to participate or donate than now, where we are most conscious of our wonderful friends and family that have graced our lives. It is the season of giving, and we hope that you will be able to join HSC in working towards this great goal of helping those afflicted with cancer. I encourage you to visit:
