Independent Study

Independent study courses in the Department are open only to properly qualified students. These courses are advanced work; they are not meant to offer a courses already given in the Department. It is the prerogative of the professor concerned to determine what constitutes proper qualifications in any given case.

Independent study courses are high demand and registration must be done directly with the professor concerned. Although variable credit may be allowed under special circumstances, ordinarily no more than one (1) course credit may be earned in a given independent study course during a single semester. However, students may take more than one independent study course at a time. It is the policy of the department to encourage qualified students, so far as it is possible, to take advantage of these offerings.
