- Congratulations to Professor Kendra Field for winning the following two awards!
- Prof. Field received the Western Writers of America 2017 Spur Award for
Best Western Short Nonfiction, for her article, with Daniel Lynch,
"'Master of Ceremonies':
The World of Peter Biggs in Civil War-Era Los Angeles."
- Prof. Field received the 2016 Boahen-Wilks Prize, awarded by the Ghana Studies Association,
for her article, with Ebony Coletu, "The Chief Sam Movement, A Century Later:
Public Histories, Private Stories, and the African Diaspora."
- Professor Hugh Roberts visited Algeria in August 2016. He toured the Kabylia region
between August 17-27, speaking about his book Algérie-Kabylie (Éditions
Barzakh, 2014), and attending meetings organized mostly by local associations in eight
different localities, in both Greater and Lesser Kabylia. After briefly
presenting the themes of his book, Professor Roberts typically answered questions for
up to two hours on each occasion, and then signed copies of his book. His
tour attracted the attention of the Algerian press. At the end of his tour, he was
interviewed by Huffington Post Algérie about his impressions of the
current state of the Kabylia region.
