Fields of Study

Members of the History Department offer preparation at the M.A. level in regional fields that include South Asia, East Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and the United States. In addition to the regional fields, the Department supports thematic fields, which combine interdisciplinary and comparative approaches. Students who choose not to specialize in a regional field may select a thematic field of study. Some examples of thematic fields are:

  • Civil Society, the Public Sphere, and the State
  • Film and Media
  • Gender and Sexuality
  • International and Intercultural Relations
  • Transnational and Global History
  • Labor and Social Movements
