Roxy's World "Follow the adventures of Roxy --
finally - a typical Tufts student in her very own comic strip: Her
loves, her friendships, her social scene, her GPA."
(From the Tufts Daily, April/2006)
Roxy's World is brought to you by the Campus Violence Prevention Project and The Alcohol and Drug Program. It first appeared in the Tufts Daily in April, 2006 to mark Sexual Assault Prevention and Alcohol Awareness Months. Our artists are the talented Regan Cerato & Miles Donovan.
Roxy's World is a multi-part comic strip created for Tufts that hopes to turn into a long-running project. The comic is inspired by the soap opera-like comic strip "Julio and Marisol," which began running in New York's subway system in 1989 to promote AIDS awareness. Similarly, Roxy's World seeks to serve a purpose that might hit closer to home for Tufts students: bringing into light varying aspects of the on-campus social scene. Following the story of Roxy - a typical Tufts freshman - and her friends, each strip delves further into the social lives of these students, touching upon alcohol, parties, hook-ups, schoolwork, and other topics. However, despite the fact that Roxy may be forced to question how much she is enjoying her experience, we find that the solution is not mere abstinence. Rather, the comic seeks to emphasize that responsible decisions is the key to a healthy - and fun - social life. (R. Cerato, 3/06).
