Violence Prevention Education Coordinator
Elaine Theodore is the Health education and Prevention Coordinator and the Sexual
Violence Resource Coordinator at Tufts University. She holds a masters degree from
the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Human Psychology and Development, Adolescent
Risk and Prevention and a BFA in theater from New York University.
Prior to arriving in the Health Education Department, Elaine was the Educational
Coordinator for the National Campus Violence Prevention Grant which was housed in
the tufts women's center. Elaine is a Planned Parenthood certified Sexuality Educator
and has worked and written extensively for adolescent women in various programs
and schools. Her work has centered around violence prevention and young people.
She has been a trainer for many groups including the Harvard Project on Negotiation,
and the New York's Attorney General's office on issues of youth violence prevention.
Elaine has worked as the Clinical Director for an alterative urban high school,
and as an expressive therapist with the Boston Institute for Art Therapy and has
written creative arts curricula for various youth agencies. She is the founding
director of the lost and found company, a theater company for and by adopted and
fostered youth. She also created and worked in a company that taught conflict resolution
through the arts. She works for Boston area juvenile courts as a Guardian Ad Litem
and Court Investigator and also as a mediator for Massachusetts families for kids.
Elaine is also a professional actor/improvisor who performs in Boston when her three
year old permits. She loves gardening, books, the Muppets and really wants a dog.
