Kate Sweeney, Graduate Intern, Nutrition
Kate Sweeney is a graduate intern from the Tufts Friedman School
of Nutrition Science and Policy. Kate develops nutrition education
and promotion programs in conjunction with other graduate students
at the school.
Kate graduated from Tufts in 2005 with a Bachelors in Biology. She
also swam for four years at Tufts and was captain her senior year.
She was a collegiate swim coach for four years after graduating. She
has coached at New York University, Colgate, and Tufts.
While always interested in physical activity, she became interested
in nutrition after watching her athletes struggle with eating the
best foods for their performance and health. A the Friedman school,
Kate is studying nutrition communication and hopes to combine the
science of nutrition with communication practices so that college
students can understand and practice good nutrition. Kate is also
involved in personal training, teaching Spinning and swimming
lessons at Tufts, heading the novice swim camp at Harvard, and
writing on her blog, Culinary in Beantown.
She also enjoys competing in triathlons and playing the violin.
