Submission Guidelines
Symposium Date: April 5th
Submission Deadline : March 24th
Presentations at the Graduate Student Symposium may be on any work, current or recent, by any member of the Tufts graduate student community from Arts, Sciences, Engineering or Nutrition. It is not necessary for the work/project to have reached completion.
All students wishing to participate in the 2003 Graduate Student Symposium are requested to submit a synopsis of their presentation when registering to present. This synopsis will be included in an information packet handed out at the beginning of the Symposium to all audience members, judges, and participants.
The synopsis can be as formal or informal as each presenter wants it to be. We are looking for a general description, or overview, of your work. It is not necessary for the synopsis to be a formal outline of the presentation; participants are welcome to expand upon the information provided in their synopsis during their presentations. If you have any questions about the synopsis, please contact the GSC academic co-chairs, listed below.
Because the Symposium is an interdisciplinary event, the following are general guidelines for what is expected. Further information can be found on the formatting and FAQ pages.
- The synopsis should be between two (2) and four (4) pages in length, double spaced, 12pt font. There is no word limit, as it is expected that the space will be filled in different ways, depending on the field of study
- Because the Symposium is a forum to share one's work with members of the Tufts community from a variety of disciplines, the synopsis should include a general outline of the presenter's work/research including current projects.
- Photographs, artwork, graphs, charts, and other non-text material may be included in the synopsis.
- Notes, bibliography, references, appendices, etc. may be included in the synopsis.
- As copies of the synopsis will be available at the Symposium, presenters may choose to include any other supplementary material that may help augment their presentation. (NOTE: This does not preclude presenters handing out additional material at the symposium)
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL: It is the presenter's responsibility to obtain permission to use any copyrighted material in their synopsis. If you are unsure about the appropriate use of material which is not your original work, contact copyright holder. Neither Tufts University nor the Graduate Student Council shall be held liable in event of copyright infringement by a presenter.
