Membership Eligibility |
|
|
First-year students in their
second semester are eligible to go through Recruitment to
join a Greek organization on campus. However, members may
not reside in a fraternity or sorority house until their
sophomore year.
Inter-Greek Council policies dictate that students must have
at least a cumulative 2.50 GPA (Arts and Sciences) or 2.30
GPA (College of Engineering), or achieve these GPAs in their
most recently comple ted semester with a normal four-course
load, in order to be eligible to receive a bid (invitation
to join) from a fraternity or sorority. Students must not be
on any university academic or disciplinary warning or
probation. Transfer students in their first semester at
Tufts are eligible to go through Recruitment if they bring
to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs a copy of
their transcript and a letter from the dean of their
previous institution stating that they were in good standing
academically (as stated above for GPA requirements) and
judicially in their last semester.
All eligible Tufts students seeking to join a fraternity or
sorority and participating in the entire Recruitment process
(attending all scheduled events to which they are invited)
are generally assured a bid from
at least one of the social Greek organizations on campus.
Note that this system does not guarantee an invitation to
join a particular chapter. |
