Online Resources: Russian/Slavic Culture House

What is the Russian/Slavic Culture House?
The Russian/Slavic Culture House, administered by the Russian Program, is a coeducational undergraduate dormitory which serves as an informal center for Russian and East European studies on campus. The House is centrally located at 101 Talbot Ave., near the Mayer Campus Center, and contains four singles and two doubles, a kitchen and common living room. Residence in the House is open to all students who satisfy any of the following requirements: 1) enrollment in courses related to the Russian and East European culture area (languages, history, literature, art, political science, or economics); 2) Slavic and East European background; or 3) a strong interest in the area.

Why live at the House?
The House organizes film series and lectures, as well as parties, cook-outs and dinners (learn to make Professor Sloane's famous borscht, not to mention Professor Johnson's tasty pirozhki). Not to be overlooked, of course, is the live-in mutual aid society for language learning (handy when the genitive plural is eluding you). The House also serves as a meeting place for the Russian Circle, a campus wide group of Slavophiles, who gather for weekly or bi-weekly tea with pancakes.
