Department Policies
Low Enrollment PolicyPlease note that Tufts has instituted a low-enrollment policy which means that classes with an enrollment of fewer than six students may have to be cancelled. In that case, the Department will make every effort to suggest an alternative section or course.
Language Placement Exams
Placement exams will be given at the very beginning of the semester, don’t miss them. It is very difficult for us to reschedule exams. The following faculty administers these exams: Arabic: Rana Abdul-Aziz; Chinese: Mingquan Wang; Japanese: Kiyomi Kagawa; Hebrew: Rahel Meshoulam; German: Saskia Stoessel; Russian: Vida Johnson; Swahili: Daniel Brown.
Language Requirement
If you want to place out of the language requirement (e.g. if you attended high school abroad) speak to Jean Herbert, Associate Dean (617-627-5985), Dowling Hall.
