Doctoral Hooding Ceremonies
Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, Arts and Sciences
The Graduate Arts and Sciences Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will be
held on Saturday May 21st from 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Cohen
Auditorium. Invitations have been mailed, and you
must notify Gina Murray
(Office of Graduate Studies) of your attendance. Family and friends are
invited to a reception immediately following the ceremony. If you
choose to attend, the dean will give you a hood as a gift. Gina
Murray will be distributing the hoods in her office (Ballou Hall
first floor) in early May. Academic regalia are required at the
ceremony. You can choose to wear your own gown, or the gown of a
family member. Academic regalia is not available for rent.
Doctoral Hooding Ceremony Engineering
The School of Engineering will have its own commencement ceremony
following the all-university ceremony. All engineering degree
recipients, Doctoral, Masters and Bachelors will receive their
degrees at this ceremony. The doctoral recipients will be hooded
accompanied by his/her advisor and their research noted at this
ceremony. Engineering doctorate recipients will not be part of a
separate hooding ceremony, but will be invited to a celebratory
reception on Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2011. More information
about this event will be relayed directly to eligible students by
the School of Engineering. If you choose to attend, the dean will
give you a hood as a gift.
Gina Murray (Office of Graduate Studies, Ballou Hall, First Floor)
will be distributing the hoods in early May.
