Director's Welcome
International exchange and cultural understanding are central to
success in today's challenging world. Study abroad facilitates interaction among
people of different customs, values, and beliefs, and encourages participants to
challenge their own assumptions and biases. This in turn creates better citizens
and more informed decision makers.
At our alpine campus in Talloires, France, students learn both inside and
outside the classroom. Host families provide insight into French culture and
language; small informal classes and excursions to Geneva and other important
international centers help students understand the importance of international
experience, so necessary for visionary leadership in the global arena.
The European Center also serves as an international meeting site, hosting
conferences and seminars attended by participants from all over the world. All
of our programs speak to our mission of facilitating and promoting international
understanding.
The Tufts European Center is actually a former Priory, part of a
Benedictine monastery that was founded in the 11th century. This extraordinary
building lends itself beautifully to study, contemplation, reflection and
exploration.
All of our programs take full advantage of this exceptional
location, offering an unequaled combination of European charm and natural
serenity as well as a commitment to quality education and service.
Take your education to new heights! We encourage you to come to
Talloires and experience for yourself one of the Tufts University Summer
Programs in the Alps.
