The Committee on Faculty Research Awards is prepared to receive applications for Summer Research Fellowships for the summer of 2008. Stipends are $7,000 per award.
Both junior and senior faculty are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility is as follows:
All full-time members of the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering who are not receiving other salary support for summer research will be eligible. Priority will be given to full-time tenure track teaching faculty. Recipients
cannot teach more than one course during the summer at Tufts or elsewhere.
Application forms for Summer Faculty Fellowships are available upon request from the Office of the Dean, Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Ballou Hall, extension 73106.
A completed copy of the application form (collated but not stapled) must be submitted to the Committee of Faculty Research Awards, at the following address: Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Ballou Hall-1 by
November 30, 2007. This is also the last date on which supporting letters must be submitted.
A. The text of the proposal should describe the project in not more than 1000 words (the equivalent of two single-spaced pages) and should be written in language comprehensible to colleagues in other disciplines. The proposal should describe as specifically as possible the work to be done and the methods to be used.
B. Attached to the application should be a current curriculum vitae, including a list of all grants applied for in the last
five years, and the disposition of those applications.
C. The applicant should arrange for his or her department chair or other senior colleague, to write a letter giving an appraisal of the value and feasibility of the project. This person may not be a collaborator on the project. The letter
must be received by the office of the dean by November 30, 2007 to meet the deadline.
Applicants should not expect feedback from the Committee on their proposals.
Assistance from the University should be acknowledged in any publication that results from FRAC funding.
A ONE-PAGE FINAL REPORT must be submitted to the Committee upon completion of the project, summarizing the work accomplished. The committee may refuse further funding to those who have received funds but have not reported in timely fashion on the use of those funds.
