The Committee on Faculty Research Awards is pleased to announce grants to support faculty research in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering during the 2009-2010 academic year. Below is a brief description of each award and their application deadlines. To receive more information and/or to download application forms, simply click on the appropriate words.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: In early Fall 2009 the application process will be automated. A new webpage is currently under construction. Until the new process is complete we will accept paper copies of last year's forms which are found below. However, please keep in mind that the committee will be using the deadlines listed below on this page.

GIA – GRANTS- IN- AID
Requests for funds under $1,500
Deadlines: Periodic review between September 1, 2009 and May 15, 2010 (OR until funds are expended)

FRF – FACULTY RESEARCH FUND (Fall & Spring)
Requests for funds between $1,500 and $5,000
Deadlines: Fall – October 2, 2009 AND Spring – February 5, 2010

SENIOR FACULTY RESEARCH SEMESTER FELLOWSHIPS
Requests for a research semester fellowship for full-time tenured faculty
Deadline: October 16, 2009

MELLON AWARDS
School of Engineering - Requests for a semester leave for tenure-track junior faculty
School of Arts & Sciences - Requests for research funding while on junior leave (limit $5,000)
Deadline: October 16, 2009

SUMMER FELLOWSHIPS
Requests for Summer Faculty Fellowships
Deadline: November 6, 2009

NEW DIRECTIONS
School of Arts & Sciences -Requests for funding of new directions in research for full-time tenured faculty.
Deadline: December 2, 2009

DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR
Departmental nominations of a tenured faculty member for his or her distinguished scholarship
Deadline: February 26, 2010 – This year nominations will be requested from the Sciences and Engineering: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemical/Biological, Civil & Environmental, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical & Bio/Tech Engineering
Letters of invitation sent to Department Chairs from FRAC during December and January.
