CHEMISTRY:

DRAMA AND DANCE:

manager to teach stage management and mentor student stage managers

ECONOMICS:
The Department of Economics anticipates openings for part-time

EXPERIMENTAL COLLEGE:
Adjunct instructors wanted for the Fall 2012 semester to design and
teach small, discussion-based courses
that promote active learning and
engage Tufts undergraduates in an exploration of ideas and experiences shaping
the world today. Classes that offer
critical contexts for thinking about cultural studies, current affairs,
technology, film, television, law, social issues, world religions, environmental
concerns, advertising and marketing, business, healthcare, and ethics have all
been well received. Twenty courses will
be chosen from a very competitive pool. The
semester begins Tuesday, September 4, 2012, and runs through Monday, December
10, 2012. Classes meet in the evening,
once or twice a week, for a total of 2.5 contact hours per week, over what comes

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SCIENCE:
The Geospatial Technology Services Group at Tufts University is looking for a
part-time Lecturer for a teaching position in our Geographic Information Science
curriculum. We seek a dynamic individual who will contribute to the growth and
development of our GIS programs at the undergraduate level. Primary responsibility
will be to teach an introductory GIS course for students in interdisciplinary programs,
including Environmental Studies and International Relations. We expect the course to
be project-based, and that the instructor will be available for consultations outside
class time to help students achieve high quality results. The successful applicant
will be joining an accomplished team of geospatial technology experts committed to expanding
and enhancing geospatial analysis across the University. A teaching assistant will be
available for the course. The desired start date is January 1, 2012. Classes begin
January 19, 2012.

MUSIC:
The Department of Music at Tufts University announces a one-semester,
Spring 2012, part-time position to teach Studies in Fieldwork, a course
primarily intended for graduate students in their first year of a two-year
program. In this course students learn ethnomusicological field techniques
by doing a significant local field research project that is supervised and
guided by the teacher. Practical topics in the course typically include
participant-observation, field notes, interview audio/video documentation,
and project design and management. Other topics addressed in the course are
history of fieldwork, ethics, intercultural communication, and self-other
relationships and awareness. We seek candidates with broad interests and
a strong commitment to teaching in an imaginative and compelling manner.
Ph.D. or ABD in ethnomusicology or other ethnography-based discipline and

CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING:
The
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at
Tufts University

the Practice in the Geotechnical Engineering Program. A graduate
degree in geotechnical engineering or a related discipline is
required. A doctoral degree or equivalent in engineering or a
relevant field is desirable. The successful candidate must

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University has
ongoing opportunities for part-time instructors who will teach courses
that expand the breadth of our offerings in the upper level curriculum.
The department, which is dedicated to growing its research base while
maintaining excellence in teaching, has three main thrusts: Sustainable
Energy, Biomechanical Systems, and Mechatronics (full description at

Adjunct instructors wanted for the Spring 2012 semester. Applicants
will design and submit discussion-based courses that promote
active learning and engage Tufts undergraduates in an
exploration of ideas and experiences shaping the world today. To
this end, classes are purposely kept small. And ones that offer
critical contexts for thinking about cultural studies, current
affairs, technology, film, television, law, social issues, world
religions, advertising and marketing, business, healthcare, and
ethics have all been well received. Twenty courses will be chosen
from a very competitive pool. The semester begins Thursday, January
19, 2012, and runs through Monday, April 30, 2012. Classes meet in
the evening, once or twice a week, for a total of 2.5 contact hours
per week, over what comes out to thirteen teaching weeks. For more
