Anthropology: Anthropology of the Environment
Assistant Professor
Tenure-track appointment at
the level of Assistant Professor in the Anthropology of the Environment,
beginning September 2012. Topical focus
can include, but is not limited to, environment and health, environmental
justice, environmental media and communication, resource use, sustainability,
climate change, disasters and aftermaths, food security, and globalization as it
relates to environmental crisis and regulation. Geographical
area open. Preference will be given
to candidates who are actively engaged in a program of field research and who
are willing to develop a capstone undergraduate research experience outside the
classroom. Evidence of a strong record of
scholarship required. PhD in Anthropology
and teaching experience required. Candidate
will be expected to teach Environmental Anthropology as an introductory course,
as a mid-level course with a regional focus, and as an upper-level undergraduate
seminar. Also expected to teach
Anthropological Thought in rotation. This

Chemistry: Chemistry/Biology Interface OR Energy and New Materials
Assistant Professor
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track
assistant professor position with research interests at the chemistry–biology
interface or in the areas of energy and new materials, broadly defined.
All subdisciplinary areas of chemistry will be considered. Successful

Child Development: Curriculum Laboratory
Lecturer/Director (Non-tenure-track)
The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development seeks qualified candidates for the
position of Full-time Lecturer in Child Development and Director of the Evelyn Pitcher
Curriculum Resource Lab. This position reflects the university’s commitment to early
childhood education and a newly envisioned early childhood teacher preparation program
focused on preparing teacher leaders for work in urban education settings, particularly
those serving dual language learners. This new vision includes developing the lab as a
community outreach and research environment for the study of children’s early learning,
effective teaching, professional development support of in-service educators, and the
development and assessment of curriculum for diverse learners.
This person will play a major role in conceptualizing and implementing the expanded
vision of the Curriculum Lab. Responsibilities will include establishing and managing lab
operations and supervising those responsible for its maintenance; community outreach;
grant writing to support lab initiatives; participating in program development and teaching
in the early childhood teacher education program at the undergraduate and graduate masters
levels. This person will teach four courses and be released from two courses for lab
administration purposes.
Requirements include at least a master’s degree (e.g., M.Ed., M.S.Ed., or M.A.) in early
childhood education or related field, interest and expertise in early childhood curriculum
and/or pedagogy, theoretical currency, and experience working with children and professionals
in urban education settings. Familiarity with technology, documentation and project-based
approaches to child and adult learning are especially valuable. Expertise in a particular
subject matter content area in early childhood (e.g., reading, mathematics, science, technology,
the arts) is highly desirable. Teaching experience at the college or university level required.

Drama and Dance: Dance
Lecturer/Director (Non-tenure-track)
Tufts University's Dance
Program of the Department of Drama and Dance seeks applicants for a
non-tenure-track, full-time Lecturer in Dance for the program directorship, a
rotating set of studio courses, and a lecture/discussion course.
The position, beginning on September 1,
2012, involves renewable contracts pending review outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required:
MA or EdM in dance with advanced studio
training or MFA with some graduate level research course work (other than
artistic inquiry). Choreographic
expertise. Five years of college
teaching. Preparation to teach a
lecture/discussion course in an area such as dance history or culture.

PhD or EdD (dance focused, if not from a

THE TUFTS DANCE PROGRAM,
DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA AND DANCE: Tufts
University attracts some of the best students from within and outside the US who
may elect beginner to advanced dance classes.
The Program offers a minor and enables students to fulfill the arts
distribution requirement. The Dance
Program's mission supports liberal arts goals for all levels of dance students
who are preparing for non-dance careers. Program
concerts are scheduled at the end of each semester, and Tufts also hosts guest
artists who present events and master classes.

Drama and Dance: Lighting Design
Lecturer (Non-tenure-track)
The Department of Drama and Dance welcomes applications for a Lecturer in Drama,
with a specialization in Lighting Design. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track
appointment which will begin September 1, 2012.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and previous experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in lighting design with a strong commitment to
undergraduate teaching. Comprehensive knowledge of lighting equipment
and electrics, including Vectorworks and Lightwright proficiency; ability
to effectively and safely manage a student electrics crew, including dimmer
and electrics maintenance; excellent communication skills; collaborative
approach to theater. Ability to supervise stage management and/or to
create and record sound design and maintain sound equipment is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach at least two classes in lighting and possibly
sound design during the academic year. Design the lighting and/or sound for
three departmental major productions. Supervise and maintain theater's
electrics department. Supervise student electrics employees. Supervise
and/or advise student lighting designers. Contribute to the continuing
development of lighting/electrics curriculum in response to the department's

English: Eighteenth-Century British Literature
Assistant Professor
Ph.D. must be awarded by August, 2012. Candidates should have
expertise in British literature from the Restoration to the end
of the 18th century and be capable of teaching a broad range of
courses across the period, including courses on poetry, drama,
and prose. We welcome candidates with a transatlantic focus.
Must be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate

Music: Director of Orchestral Activities
Lecturer/Director (Non-tenure-track)
The Department of Music at Tufts University announces a full-time lecturer
position as Director of Orchestral Activities beginning in September 2012.
We seek a dynamic and creative conductor dedicated to leading an
orchestral program in a liberal arts university with excellent
music facilities. The department currently has a 65-member
symphony orchestra. Applicant should be open to partnerships
with directors of choral music, jazz, opera, and world music ensembles,
as well as to coordinating programming with composition and other
academic offerings.
Responsibilities will include conducting weekly rehearsals, sectionals,
and other rehearsals as required. Two-three concerts per semester, yearly
children's concert, special performances, and regular tours. Teaching
responsibilities will include two other courses per semester, and may
include musicianship, conducting, chamber music, and other areas of the

Occupational Therapy: Occupational Therapy with Children and Adolescents
Lecturer (Non-tenure-track)
The Department of Occupational Therapy at Tufts University has an opening for a
full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer to teach and advise occupational therapy

occupational therapy with children and adolescents, which is the primary area of

Political Science: International Relations

Assistant/Associate Professor

seeks candidates for the McDonnell Family Endowed Professorship in
Engineering Education – a tenure-track faculty position that focuses on
engineering education. Specifically, we seek a creative and forward-looking
individual whose research focuses on engineering education, K-12 or K-16, and
whose expertise and interests complement current strengths in engineering
education at Tufts.
Candidates are required to have earned a doctorate in engineering,
education, or learning sciences-related fields. We expect to fill this position
at the academic rank of assistant/associate professor but may consider
exceptional senior candidates as well. The successful candidate will have a
primary appointment in one of the six SoE departments (Biomedical, Chemical and
Biological, Civil and Environmental, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical
Engineering and Computer Science) and may be offered a secondary appointment in
an appropriate department in the School of Arts and Sciences (e.g., Education). It is anticipated that he/she will play a pivotal role in the
Center for

Chemical and Biological Engineering: Biological Engineering; Sustainable Energy
Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE) at Tufts University
will be filling several tenure-track faculty positions over the next few years,
consistent with our plans for faculty expansion. In academic year 2011-12, we
are seeking faculty members at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the
broad fields of Biological Engineering (cell, metabolic, or molecular aspects)
and Sustainable Energy (catalysis, advanced materials, process systems engineering).

Civil and Environmental Engineering: Environmental Health
Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Civil and
Environmental Engineering at Tufts University
seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the Environmental Health
Program at the Assistant or Associate level, with rank determined by experience
and accomplishments. Exceptional senior candidates may also be considered for

Candidates are expected to
hold a doctoral degree in engineering, applied science or medicine.
We are particularly interested in individuals conducting
interdisciplinary research at the interface between life sciences and
engineering in areas such as environmental microbiology, transmission pathways
of infectious diseases, gene-environment interactions, and environmental
toxicology. The successful candidate
will join an Environmental Health Program that is positioned at the junction
between engineering and public health.
Principal responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate
teaching, establishment of a strong externally-funded research program, and
development of active collaborations with research partners, creating synergy
both inside and outside Tufts University.
The ideal candidate will have research interests that complement existing
departmental strengths, including waterborne and water-related pathogens,
contaminant fate and transport, air pollution monitoring, biostatistics,
epidemiology, and neurotoxicology, and that provide opportunities for
collaboration with faculty in the Schools of Engineering and Arts and Sciences,
as well as the Schools of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine,
Nutrition Science and Policy, and the Fletcher School.

Electrical and Computer Engineering: Signals and Systems
Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tufts University
seeks a junior tenure-track faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate

of Full Professor. The department is particularly interested in attracting an individual
with expertise in the field of Signals and Systems. Particular subfields of interest
include statistical and wireless communications with an emphasis on physical-layer
communications and network information theory including the study of network coding,
co-operative communications, and security and secrecy in information and communication systems.
The ideal candidate will have two to three years of postdoctoral experience that includes
a strong publication record, supervision of graduate students, and substantive interaction
