The function of the Committee on Committees (Com Com) is to recruit and appoint members to all A&S&E appointed committees and those of the associated schools, to consider and recommend faculty members to the president for appointment to A&S&E ad-hoc committees, and to facilitate elections for the six A&S&E elected committees.
This committee consists of five A&S&E faculty members of professorial rank who have served Tufts for at least five years. The membership shall include at least one member from the School of Engineering, but no more than one member from a single department may serve at any one time. The president of the university, or designee, serves as an ex officio member with voting privileges and a representative from the AS&E Executive Committee serves as an ex officio member without vote. Members are elected to a five-year term.
Committee members typically attend one meeting per semester to recruit committee members or candidates to fill unanticipated vacancies. There is some email communication in the fall semester and also in January through February, to field candidates for committee elections. There is one two-hour meeting at the end of the spring semester (and email communication for about a week thereafter) to staff all appointed committees. During active periods, members contact colleagues about committee assignments. This committee is not appropriate for tenure-track faculty members.
