Scholarship & Research: Dr. Ray's research interests concern examing children's participation in daily routines as well as supporting the relationships between children and their families. Her research involves describing the interactions that occur between mothers and their young children with a focus on their relationship to the child's engagement in activity.

She is a founding member of the Homelessness Research Network, a group that is working to establish a national research and practice agenda for occupational therapists working with adults, children, and families experiencing homelessness. Her research involves examing the participation patterns of young children with family members while living in transitional housing.

In addition, Dr. Ray is particularly interested in supporting best practice for school-based therapists. She is one of the writers of the Massachusetts Guidelines for School-Based Practice. She has presented workshops and trainings to occupational therapists and related service providers concerning practice in the public school. She also has a textbook in process: School-Based Practice: Enabling Participation.
