Dr. Shimshack holds a Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California, Berkeley (2002) and a B.S. in business marketing and management from Cornell University (1995). Broadly, his areas of specialization are environmental economics, natural resource economics, and applied microeconomics. More specifically, his research emphasizes regulation and the monitoring and enforcement of environmental legislation. Applications typically focus on domestic water quality. Other areas of interest include the incentives induced by public policies, including the interaction of agricultural programs and environmental outcomes. At Tufts, Professor Shimshack teaches environmental economics and statistics.
