Dr. Chen's research focus on applying numerical models, geostatistical methods, and stochastic approaches to investigate flow and transport of groundwater and multiphase flow in subsurface area. Dr. Chen also has rich experiences of basin-scale flow modeling and calibration for high parameterized model system. Recently, Dr. Chen joined IMPES (Integrated Multiphase Environmental Systems Laboratory) and use numerical techniques, combined with laboratory experiments, to study Nanoscale Iron Delivery Methods for NAPL Treatment, and DNAPL Source Zone Architecture and Associated Plume Response.
