The committee shall act on recommendations for removal from courses without record, for withdrawal from courses with a grade of W and for pass/fail grading that are forwarded to it from the Dean of the Colleges for Undergraduate Education. The Committee shall supervise the development of honors programs, and candidates for degrees with highest honors shall be referred to the committee for recommendation to the Faculty.

Committee Description & Work Load:

The Committee on Academic Standing and Honors meets in early January and June in all-day meetings to discuss students that may not be in good academic standing. It meets shortly before each graduation to discuss students that satisfy the requirements for Summa, the May meeting again taking most of the day and requiring substantial preparation. Other meetings and email consultations may be needed to discuss standards.
