2008-2009 Season:
The
Ewo lost some great seniors last year, but had a fun season with a small team,
and everyone improved a ton. We had some
epicly bad weather, beginning with a freezing, hailing Trouble in Vegas. But it only bonded our small troupe of 16 as
we made it through the late nights in Gantcher.
After a relaxing spring break we finally began outdoor practices
again. Our major highlight was breaking
seed in a major way at Sectionals—from 12 to 2nd seed! We’ll miss our amazing seniors, but we’re
looking forward to an exciting fall season.
2006-2007 Season:
The Ewo had a successful 2007 season, despite the loss of many
talented seniors. Starting with Trouble in Vegas, the Ewo began coming together
as a team with the introduction of talented sophomores and the return of juniors
returned from abroad. The bonding process continued through spring break in
Clearwater, FL with many highlights including swimming with manatees and car
challenges. As the regular season started, we knew we were aiming for a
return to College Nationals, and our dedication and hard work could be seen in
a strong showing at Yale Cup.
The College Series began well as we became the Metro Boston
Champs for the 2nd year in a row, beating Northeastern 13-2 in the cold, wind,
and rain. The Northeast Regionals Tournament was an emotional rollercoaster as
we finished the first day by solidly winning our pool, lining us up for a
rematch of last years final game with Dartmouth. Despite having beaten
Dartmouth in the regular season, we lost 10-14. Quickly snapping out of our
disappointment, we played hard against Wellesly and won, coming in 2nd place to
earn a bid to College Nationals!!
The trip to Nationals was highly eventful, with car
breakdowns, Taboo games, camping, and rollercoasters. Once in Columbus, OH, we
refocused our attention on Ultimate (and Graeter’s ice cream). We began the
tournament seeded 15th and, despite playing well, lost our pool on the first
day. The highlight of the second day was our win against 8th seeded Emory
which enabled us to break seed and finish 11th! Topping off our successful
season, our captain Caroline "CChow"
Chow came in 5th place for the Callahan Award, a nationwide award celebrating
outstanding playing ability, good sportsmanship, and the Ultimate spirit.
For next year, we are losing seven seniors, one graduate
student, and two sophomores, and the Ewo are very sad to see them leave.
However, anchored by a strong class of rising seniors, the Ewo are looking forward
to rebuilding during the fall season and coming out hard in the spring!
