Flying into Geneva

Talloires is best reached by flying into Geneva, Switzerland. The Geneva International Airport is just a one hour car or bus ride from Talloires.

Driving Directions from Geneva to Annecy/Talloires

If When you exit the airport, follow the signs for France. You will go onto a road that passes in front of a number of large office buildings and hotels as well as a big shopping center on the right hand side. Follow this road and keep following the big green signs for FRANCE.

The signs will direct you straight down, until the road ends and you come to a light. You will want to stay in the middle lane. At the light, there will be signs for France will direct you to turn left.
Once you have turned left, you must take first right hand exit - which comes up very quickly. This turn will put you onto the Swiss Highway. Follow the signs for France.

Follow the Swiss highway and the signs for France all the way until you get to the Bardonnex border crossing area where you will go through a small Swiss customs area (usually empty and quiet) and then the French customs area (sometimes with officers inspecting cars and drivers).

Once through the border, go straight – following the BLUE (Péage) Highway signs to Annecy. This is the A41 Highway.

You will drive a ways and eventually come to a row of tollbooths where you will take a ticket. Make sure to go to a booth with a green arrow as the others are for FastPass holders. From the toll booth it is another 7 kilometers to our exit, exit 17 – ANNECY NORD.

Continue on the highway towards Annecy but be careful because there is a camera radar just before the Annecy Nord exit.

Take the ANNECY NORD exit (Exit 17), pay the toll and then follow the green signs to Annecy. Note: You can pay the toll with cash or with a credit card. Coming out of the toll, you will turn right and then go into a rotary where you will go almost all the way around to get to the sign designating the Annecy exit.
Coming out of the rotary, you will move onto a highway-like road where you must move all the way to the left hand lane. Stay on the left and follow the signs to Annecy le Vieux.

The road will curve around and when you come to the second light, move to the left hand turning lane and turn left. This puts you onto Avenue de la Plaine.

Follow Avenue de la Plaine and go through two lights. You will then come to a big rotary. Go in the rotary and go ¾ of the way around to Avenue Gambetta. (Look for the sign indicating Le Lac/the Lake or the Imperial Casino).
Avenue Gambetta will curve to the right a bit and become Avenue de France. You will continue all the way down until you can go no further.

Here you will come to a light where you will make a LEFT hand turn onto the main road that goes around the lake. Follow the road and the road signs for Talloires until you get to TALLOIRES.
Enter Talloires and follow the signs to the central parking lot. Once you are in the parking lot, the European Center is on the exact opposite side of the lot from where you entered.
