Programs:
Language Training Course for International Graduate Students
Beginning on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, the Tufts
University English Language Programs will be offering a
Language Training Course for International Graduate
Students, at no cost to participating students.
The Tufts University English Language Programs has been
providing language training to international students from
all over the world for nearly thirty years. With the support
of the deans of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and
the School of Engineering, the program has expanded its
services to include a language training program for Tufts
University international graduate students who wish to
improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking
skills.
The program will be offered once per week during the fall
semester and will begin on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
The program offers language instruction classes for 90
minutes per week that focus on writing and conversational
skills in English. The program lasts for 10 weeks, and will
meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work on language skills
in a collegial environment. There is a maximum enrollment of
15 students in the class and the students accepted into the
program will come from across the disciplines at Tufts
University. Post-doctoral candidates are also eligible.
The instructor for the course has an excellent background in
professional language training programs and has been
teaching English courses at Tufts University for the past
five years.
Students will be selected based on availability. Particular
consideration will be given to students currently working as
Teaching Assistants (TA), or planning to become a TA in the
fall of 2009. Most students will have a TOEFL score of
between 550-630 (CBT 213-267 or iBT 80-109), but all are
welcome to participate.
