Reading tutors: If your child needs help with reading fluency, he or she will begin by rereading a short familiar poem or "snippet" before moving onto activities that are designed to help children recognize print, and to read it automatically and fast. Brief writing activities are typically included in this part of the session. They will also take turns reading a book at your child's instructional level. During this reading, your child's tutor will model fluent oral reading, guide your child in developing word recognition strategies and address key aspects of reading comprehension. The layout of a reading session is portrayed in "Play the Game of Fostering Fluency" that is part of the T.L.C. Bulletin on this website.
