Ph.D. Program Information

Concentration in Language and Literacy

The Ph.D. concentration in Language and Literacy prepares students for careers in areas where knowledge of child language and literacy is required. These include the areas of language and reading disorders, bilingualism and bilingual education, language arts and literacy, and language and culture.

The course requirements for the Ph.D. concentration in Language and Literacy are as follows:

  3. One introductory linguistics course taken outside the University

  5. CD 144 Qualitative and Ethnographic Methods

  8. Four Concentration Electives
  9. Four Open Electives
  10. Internship
  11. Two Qualifying Papers
  12. Doctoral Dissertation
