Welcome to the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development at Tufts
The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development is one of the country’s leading departments serving children, youth, and families through its research, practice, and teaching.

Noted for its interdisciplinary work and for its integration of research and practice, the Department prepares students to become leaders in a variety of fields, including education, developmental science, early intervention, advocacy and the law, program evaluation, fields focusing on the arts and technology as they relate to children’s development, and health-related fields such as pediatrics and child mental health.

The Department’s interdisciplinary faculty and research opportunities as well as its course offerings and concentrations, all provide rich and varied ways for students to become scholar-practitioners.

Those educated at Eliot-Pearson, regardless of their specific career paths, are expected to contribute to and lead efforts to enhance the lives of children and youth.
