Research

Tisch Library
The Tisch Library provides access to a wide range of print and electronic reference tools, including the MLA International Bibliography, the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (from the Web of Science), Project Muse and JSTOR (collections of full-text electronic journals including journals in literature and, more broadly, the humanities), and Early English Books Online (database comprising all known English language books from the beginning of printing to 1700). These and additional resources are listed at: http://www.library.tufts.edu/tisch/Subject/englang.htm.

The Tisch Library is also linked to other Boston-area libraries. Graduate students are eligible for borrowing privileges with the Boston Library Consortium, which includes Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Brown University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, State Library of Massachusetts, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts (Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell, and Worcester), University of New Hampshire, Wellesley College, and Williams College. The Consortium also includes the Boston Public Library, which boasts one of the nation's strongest research collections. For additional information about the Consortium as well as about borrowing through interlibrary loan see:

Boston
Tufts is close to mass transit systems that provide ready access to the rich cultural and educational resources of the Boston area. Graduate students and faculty participate in an extensive array of literature seminars and presentations, such as those sponsored by the Harvard University Humanities Center. In addition to the lectures, programs, and conferences sponsored by the many local colleges and universities, Boston is home to such renowned institutions as the American Repertory Theater, the Huntington Theater, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, The W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for Afro-American Research, the Gardner Museum, the Harvard Art Museums (Fogg, Sackler, and Busch-Reisinger), the Boston Ballet, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
