The College Writing Requirement

Two semesters of college writing are required for graduation in liberal arts. Except under extraordinary circumstances, students should complete this requirement in their first year. Most students do so by taking English 1 (or English 3) in the first semester and English 2 (or English 4) in the second semester.

One semester of college writing is required for graduation in the School of Engineering. Engineering students must take either English 1 or English 3.
