Combined Degree Programs in Teacher Preparation
These programs are intended for students who know they would like to seek a graduate degree in teaching. We do not recommend students pursue both an undergraduate major and a graduate degree in Education.
The Department of Education offers three combined degree programs in Teacher preparation in the following areas:
These demanding Bachelors/Masters programs permit academically exceptional Tufts students to complete the 120 credit-hour undergraduate degree and 30 credit-hour master degree in five years. Applicants are urged to seek academic advising as early as possible if they are considering this path.
If you have questions regarding one of these combined degrees please contact the graduate program director:
Admission Process and Criteria
Admission to the graduate degree portion of the program is
separate from the undergraduate degree portion. Students must apply
to the graduate program by the end of the spring semester of their
Tuition and Financial Aid
Combined degree students are responsible for payment of the
undergraduate and graduate tuitions. The graduate degree scholarship
committee will take the undergraduate degree scholarship package
into consideration when making decisions.
Graduates of the combined degree program in Teacher preparation will complete all the academic requirements for both their undergraduate degree and graduate degree. See the graduate program's website for courses and requirements.
Admitted and enrolled students may be permitted to apply up to six credit-hours of >100-level Tufts coursework, taken as part for the undergraduate degree requirements, towards the master's degree requirements. These shared graduate-level course credit-hours must be part of the master's degree requirements and must adhere to the policies in the graduate student handbook and department student handbook.
Graduates of the combined degree program receive a bachelor's degree from Tufts (B.A., B.F.A, B.S.) and a master's degree from Tufts (M.A.T). Degrees are conferred upon completion of requirements for each portion of the program.
