Application of MS students to the PhD program

We welcome applications from our MS students to the PhD program. Because they are students from within the program, it may be possible, with approval from the Program Director, to waive the need for at least some of the letters of reference. However, students who apply should understand that they enter the overall pool of applicants, from which we typically admit five students per year. Even excellent candidates who apply as MS students will not be admitted unless they have a mentor. PhD students will be expected to work closely with faculty in the Department of Education or Department of Child Development and in the content discipline.

All relevant courses obtained by successful candidates while enrolled in the MS program will count towards the PhD degree.

Alternatively, MS students may complete the MS degree requirements and, upon receiving the MS degree, submit an application to the PhD Program.
