Tufts University
School of Engineering (SoE)
seeks candidates for the McDonnell Family Endowed Professorship in Engineering Education a
tenure-track faculty position that focuses on engineering education. Specifically, we seek
a creative and forward-looking individual whose research focuses on engineering education,
K-12 or K-16, and whose expertise and interests complement current strengths in engineering
education at Tufts.
Requirements:
Candidates are required to have earned a doctorate in engineering, education, or
learning sciences-related fields. We expect to fill this position at the academic
rank of assistant/associate professor but may consider exceptional senior candidates as
well. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in one of the six SoE

appointment in an appropriate department in the School of Arts and Sciences (e.g., Education).
It is anticipated that he/she will play a pivotal role in the
Center for Engineering Education
and Outreach (CEEO) at Tufts and will actively participate in Tufts
MSTE
graduate program by teaching and
advising doctoral students in either engineering or education. Preference will be given to
candidates with classroom teaching experience and with research interests that offer opportunities
for collaboration with CEEO-affiliated faculty and other faculty members throughout the Schools
of Engineering and Arts and Sciences. The CEEO is dedicated to building collaborations between
researchers in engineering, science, and the social sciences and to increasing the engineering
literacy of all students. It has an extensive array of active collaborations with industry,
government, and teachers worldwide. Current CEEO activities encompass K-12 classroom outreach,
research on student learning, approaches to teaching, and the development of new educational
technologies. Other related interdisciplinary programs supported by the SoE include undergraduate
and graduate programs in Human Factors Engineering and Computer Science and Cognitive and Brain Sciences.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant School of Engineering that distinguishes
itself by the interdisciplinary and integrative nature of its engineering education and
research programs within the environment of both a "Research Class 1" University and a
top-ranked undergraduate institution. As home to seven graduate and professional schools
across three campuses, Tufts University prides itself on its culture of cross-School
partnerships. Located on Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus, only six miles from historic
downtown Boston, SoE faculty members have extensive opportunities for academic and industrial
collaboration, as well as participation in the rich intellectual life of the region.
Candidates should submit a letter of application, research and educational plans, summary
