M.A.T. in Elementary Education: Teaching Fractions Strategically

Children depend upon their teachers to use teaching strategies to support their learning. Today's classrooms include learners who bring a wide range of strengths, challenges and life experiences to the business of learning. Effective teaching means meeting the needs of all children. Learning to meet this challenge starts in our pre-service program, as student teachers work together to plan teaching strategies that will enable children with learning differences to succeed as members of inclusive classrooms. Here, the planning focuses on ways to provide access to the often-elusive concepts about fractions as numbers that imply division.
