Tufts/SMFA Art Education
Festival 2008
Held April 28 - May 2, 2008 The Art Education Festival exhibited the art work of
K-12 public school students created under the guidance of MAT and BFA-AE
students during their fulltime student teaching internship in the Tufts/SMFA Art
Education program.
Our objectives were:
- Displaying the results of our work as artist-teachers
in the setting of our scholarly and art making community.
- Advancing the discourse in art education about what it
means to be an emerging art teacher in the context of:
- Our multicultural society and artworlds.
- Postmodernism's influence on art making.
- The role of visual culture in the life of our
PK-12 art students.
- The daily realities of developing, designing,
implementing and evaluating curriculum in the PK-12 public school
classroom.
