- B.A., Political Science, The Colorado College
Marion Reynolds has
a joint appointment with the Department
of Child Development and the Department of Education at Tufts University.
She earned a Master's in Early Childhood Education from the University of
New Mexico, plus numerous post-graduate credits in mathematics education,
literacy education, and leadership from a range of institutions in Massachusetts.
Ms. Reynolds instructs the pre-practicum seminar and the interdisciplinary
curriculum courses for the elementary certification teacher preparation
program. In addition, she teaches the introductory Children's Literature
course for the Child Development Department. Previous to teaching courses
at Tufts, Ms. Reynolds taught in the primary grades for more than twenty
years, was a literacy specialist in a Greater Boston public school system,
and consulted widely in New England regional schools on elementary curriculum,
literacy, and assessment. Her current professional interests include how
teachers' educational biographies and their subsequent assumptions about
learning and teaching inform their teaching decisions; teachers as researchers
of pedagogical questions in their own classrooms; and the development of
children's ideas about the world, in particular mathematics and science.
