The Tufts Economics Society was created by, and is administered by, undergraduate students with interests in business and economics. It serves students by providing career information and networking opportunities, promoting student-faculty interaction outside of the classroom setting, sponsoring talks by distinguished individuals in business and economics, and representing student opinion on departmental policies. We work closely with the Economics Department faculty and our advisor is department Professor Thomas Downes.

Each semester we hold many great events that anyone can attend. You can also help plan these events by joining a working committee.

The most central value of the Tufts Economics Society is service: to the students of economics (from all majors), economics faculty members, and the more global community which shares interests in economics and business/finance. To deliver on this value, our members serve to:
- Act as advisors to all students interested in economics and business by sharing experiences with classes, events, internships, and the job search process.
- Create networks and dialogue among students and between students, faculty, and the administration.
- Encourage students to learn become more involved in economics research and learn more about the faculty and their research interests.
- Strengthen the major and the department by offering feedback about course offerings, quality of courses and professors, and possible future subject areas.
- Provide students with valuable information about the business and economic world by sponsoring speakers form both inside and outside the Tufts community.
- Partake in community service efforts in the greater Boston area (e.g., by teaching economics to area elementary and middle school students).
