Mikal Davis, First Year Student
Mikal graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2010 with a BA in economics
and philosophy. For the past several years, he has worked with the non-profit,
Amigos de las Americas in various capacities, most recently as the Director a
summer-long youth development project in the Dominican Republic. His work with
Amigos has sparked an interest in Development Economics and Applied
Microeconomics. His hobbies include ultimate frisbee and mountain biking.
Yu Hu, First Year Student
Yu graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology majoring in
Accounting.
Jie Lai, First Year Student
Jie graduated from Wuhan University in 2011. She received a BS in Economics
with a concentration in finance and insurance. When she was a junior, she was
chosen as an exchange student to the College of Management of National Taiwan
University. Her hobbies include reading, travelling and doing sports.
Xueying Lu, First Year Student
Xueying is from Tianjin, China. She received her degree in
International Economics and Trade from Renmin University of China.
Arushi Bajaj, Second Year Student
Arushi graduated with a BS in Economics from West Virginia University in 2010.
Her internship experiences include working with a research arm of the DoD
specializing in the African security sector. This helped her realize the
importance of economics in structuring strategic security policies to induce
positive socio-economic impacts. Arushi’s research interests include development
economics, environmental economics and microeconomics. In her free time, she
enjoys catching up on re-runs of the Daily Show and Colbert Report.
Conor Carney, Second Year Student
Conor graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2007 with a BA in
Economics. Following graduation, he worked for three years as a Senior Economic
Consultant at Chicago Partners, providing
economic support on projects related to antitrust, international trade and
investment, labor, technical finance, securities and valuation.
His current
research interests are centered around environmental economics, development
economics and the crossover between randomized control trials and environmental
issues.
Brielle Kissel, Second Year Student
Brielle graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2004 with
a BA in Economics and a BS in Business Administration. She is
enrolled part-time in the combined degree program with the Economics
department and the Urban and Environmental Policy department at
Tufts, and is currently working full-time in economics research and
policy analysis for a firm in Lexington, MA.
Ana P. Torres, Second Year Student
Ana is a second-year student in the joint degree Master’s program with the Urban
and Environmental Policy and Planning department. Ana graduated in 2008 from
CIDE (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas) in Mexico with a BS in
Economics. After graduating she worked as research assistant on projects related
to public policy evaluation, social mobility and microfinance in Mexico. Her
internship experience includes working with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
on the evaluation of financial planning, financial literacy, and investor
perceptions of the privatized social security market in Mexico. Her current
research interests are urban economics (in particular transportation),
environmental justice and sustainable development.
