Why Tufts?
A Message about the Master's Program in Economics
We welcome your interest in the Tufts Graduate Program in Economics.
We recently introduced a two-track Master of Science program in Economics.
The M.S.-Course-Based track is an eight-course program, which can be completed
in one year, without a thesis. The M.S.-Research-Based track is a twelve-credit
program to be completed in two years, with a master's thesis.
The Economics Master of Science program provides a deep understanding
of the theoretical and empirical foundations of economics and the
quantitative tools required for research careers in economics. There are
three required, two-term core courses for both tracks: microeconomics,
macroeconomics, and statistics-econometrics.
Applications for the program are accepted only for the fall semester.
Applicants should indicate which track they prefer. However, acceptance
into the Research-Based track for the second year is subject to standards
of academic performance in the first academic year.

Director, Graduate Program in Economics
