A Message about the Master's Program in Economics
We welcome your interest in the Tufts Graduate Program in Economics.
We are thrilled to announce a significant upgrade and strengthening of
our graduate program. Starting in 2010, we introduce a two-track Master
of Science program in Economics. The M.S.-Course-Based track is an eight-course
program, which can be completed in one year, without a thesis.
The M.S.-Research-Based track is a twelve-credit program to be
completed in two years, with a master's thesis. The M.S.-Course-Based
track will replace the current M.A. degree.
The Economics Master of Science program provides a deep understanding
of the theoretical and empirical foundations of economics and the
quantitative tools required for research careers in economics. There are
three required, two-term core courses for both tracks: microeconomics,
macroeconomics, and statistics-econometrics.
Applications for the program are accepted only for the fall semester.
Applicants should indicate which track they prefer. However, acceptance
into the Research-Based track for the second year is subject to standards
of academic performance in the first academic year.
More detailed information about the Master of Science program in Economics
will be available in the next few weeks. Please, feel free to contact us with
additional questions about the program.
